A truck-mounted system cleans from a van at the kerb, with the hose run in through the front doors, across the lobby, into the lift and down the corridor. Buildings around the City Centre do not love that, and some will not allow it at all.
Ours is carried in. The ninth floor is no harder than the ground floor, there is no fire door propped open and no parking to hold. It still runs hot water extraction at 250 PSI, which is the part that actually does the cleaning. If your building wants proof of insurance or the service lift booked, say so when you call and the paperwork goes over before the date.
The older houses, and what is under the broadloom
The houses in the lettered sections are sixty years old now. A good number still have their original broadloom on the stairs and bedrooms, and a fair amount of that is wool or a wool blend rather than the synthetic everything is made of today.
Wool matters because it is alkaline-sensitive. The high-pH pre-spray that is fine on modern polyester can dull it, felt the pile or move the dye. Wool gets an acidic-side rinse on its own and no alkaline pre-spray at all. We check the fibre before anything is applied rather than after.
