Carpet cleaning has its own vocabulary, and most of it is on this page. Here is what those words actually mean — and what happens if you decide to book.
Two names for the same thing. Hot water and cleaning solution go into the carpet under pressure, and a vacuum pulls them straight back out, bringing the dirt with them. There is no actual steam involved.
The water pressure at the wand — the tool that touches your carpet. More pressure pushes the solution deeper into the pile and pulls more soil back out of it.
The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification is the body that sets the training standard for this trade. Kharl is trained to its Water Damage Restoration Technician standard, the WRT. That training is about water, so on carpet and upholstery what he brings is over six years of doing the work.
The pre-spray is strongly alkaline, which is what breaks down ground-in dirt. The rinse afterwards is mildly acidic, which cancels it out. Skip the rinse and the leftover soap stays in the carpet and turns sticky — that is why carpet can look dirty again a fortnight after it was cleaned.

- We agree a time. Same-day and next-day are often available. Same-day carries a $50 priority surcharge; next-day does not. What limits us is the calendar, not the room rates.
- We turn up and do the work. Light furniture moved, carpet pre-sprayed, cleaned, then rinsed so nothing is left behind. Kharl does the job himself.
- You use the room the same day. Dry to the touch in four to six hours, fully dry within twenty-four. If you are not happy, the re-clean is free.

Why pet odour keeps coming back after regular cleaning.
Pet urine isn't just a surface stain — it's a biological material that breaks down chemically over time into compounds, including uric acid crystals, that bond tightly to carpet fibres and padding. This is the part most store-bought cleaners and standard carpet shampoo miss entirely. They can lift the visible stain and mask the smell temporarily, but the uric acid crystals stay behind, re-releasing odour whenever humidity rises, even weeks or months later. That's the specific reason pet odour so often seems to "come back" after a cleaning that otherwise looked successful — the surface was cleaned, but the actual source wasn't addressed.
Our enzyme treatment works differently. Enzymes are biological catalysts that break the uric acid crystals down at a molecular level, rather than covering the odour or attempting to rinse it away with water and soap alone. For fresh accidents, this alone is usually enough to fully resolve the odour. For older or repeated accidents, the affected zone often extends further into the carpet backing and padding than the visible stain suggests. That is most common in homes where an untrained puppy has had several accidents in the same general area over time. Our deep odour removal is built for exactly that, reaching further below the surface than a standard enzyme application.
Depth does not change the price. Heavy or repeated contamination is the same $125 per affected area as a single fresh accident. It takes more product and a longer dwell, and that is our problem rather than yours. There is one honest limit on it. Where urine has gone all the way through the backing into the underpad, the pad holds the smell and generally has to come out, which is a replacement question rather than a cleaning one. We tell you that at the quote, not after you have paid for a treatment.
Why urine needs a separate neutralizing step.
Beyond the enzyme treatment, pet urine leaves behind ammonia compounds that contribute to the sharp, acrid smell people associate with pet accidents. We use a dedicated urine neutralizer alongside the enzyme treatment, specifically to target these ammonia compounds. Enzymes and neutralizers address slightly different parts of the same problem: the enzymes break down the organic material, the neutralizer handles the immediate acidic odour. Using both together gets a more complete result than either approach alone, which is part of why a proper professional pet treatment tends to outperform single-step consumer products by a wide margin.
Finding accidents you can't see.
Not every pet accident leaves an obvious visible stain, especially on already-dark or heavily patterned carpet, or in cases where a pet has urinated on the same general area repeatedly over a long period. If you can smell something but can't pinpoint exactly where it's coming from, mention that when requesting your quote. We can use a blacklight during the visit, which makes dried urine residue visible even when the naked eye can't see it under normal lighting. This lets us treat the actual affected area precisely, rather than guessing or treating an entire room when only one section needs it. That footprint is usually larger than the mark on the surface, which is a large part of why the smell comes back weeks after a clean.
What to realistically expect.
Our enzyme and neutralizing treatments resolve the vast majority of pet odour and staining issues we encounter, and they're completely safe for pets and kids once the carpet has fully dried. That said, we're upfront that very old or repeated accidents can sometimes cause permanent dye changes in the carpet fibre itself, essentially a form of bleaching from prolonged exposure to urine. No cleaning treatment reverses that, because the fibre's colour has genuinely changed rather than just being covered in residue. We'll always tell you honestly during your quote if a stain looks like it falls into that category, rather than promising a result we can't deliver.
