How long Brampton carpets take to dry, and why the rinse decides it
Most carpet cleaned with our portable hot water extraction is dry to the touch in four to six hours and fully dry within twenty-four, faster still in an empty room where air moves across the whole floor. That range comes down to how much water is left in the pile when we finish, which is mostly decided by the rinse step rather than the weather outside.
The pre-spray we use, Prochem Ultrapac Extreme, runs at pH 12.3 to break down ground-in soil, which means every drop of it has to come back out. Alkaline residue left behind stays faintly tacky as it dries and attracts new soil, which is the actual reason a “cleaned” carpet can look dull again within days — not that the first clean failed. That is what the rest of this article is about.
The rinse pass, Prochem All Fiber Rinse, is a second extraction stroke: it pulls the chemistry and the water carrying it back out of the pile before we leave. Less liquid left behind means less liquid that has to evaporate, which is the real reason for the four-to-six-hour window.
